1. Submit a Formal Request
- Method: Send a written request via email or post to Host Car Finance’s Data Protection Officer (DPO).
- Content: Include your full name, contact details, account/reference number, and a clear statement requesting deletion of all personal data under UK GDPR Article 17 (Right to Erasure).

2. Identity Verification
- Host Car Finance may request proof of identity to ensure the request is legitimate.
- Acceptable documents typically include a copy of a government-issued ID and a recent utility bill.
3. Internal Review
- The company will assess: Whether your data can be deleted (some may be retained for legal or regulatory reasons).
- Whether any active contracts, disputes, or financial obligations exist.
4. Data Deletion Execution
- If approved, Host Car Finance will: Remove your personal data from active systems.
- Delete or anonymise data in backups and archives (where feasible).

5. Confirmation & Timeline
- You should receive confirmation within 30 calendar days of your request.
- If deletion is denied, Host Car Finance must provide a written explanation citing legal grounds.
6. Escalation (if needed)
- If you don’t receive a response or are dissatisfied: Contact Host Car Finance’s complaints department.
- Escalate to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) via ico.org.uk.
